What Am I Willing To Sacrifice
By Yvette Grant
Travel looks glamorous on the timeline, but behind every beach
photo and passport stamp is a quiet truth: you don’t get the trip you want without giving something up first.
For me, it starts long before the flight. I plan early — not because I’m overly organized, but because peace is cheaper when you prepare. Booking ahead means better prices, better rooms, and fewer surprises. It’s the first sacrifice: trading procrastination for intention.
Then come the small lifestyle swaps. One less nail appointment. Skipping a hair touch‑up. Cooking at home instead of grabbing takeout. These aren’t losses — they’re choices. Every dollar I don’t spend on something temporary becomes a dollar that takes me somewhere unforgettable.
The real shift happens when I set my own priorities. Not the internet’s. Not the pressure to “treat myself” every weekend. I treat myself by getting on a plane. I choose experiences over extras, memories over momentary indulgence.
Sacrifice isn’t suffering. It’s strategy. It’s deciding that the world is worth more than whatever I’m giving up today.
And when I finally step into that airport — bag packed, boarding pass ready — every trade‑off feels like a win. Because I didn’t just plan a trip. I built it, choice by choice.
That’s what I’m willing to sacrifice. And honestly? It’s always worth it.
