Quick Summer Getaways to Reboot

You don't need two weeks and a whole passport stamp situation to reset. Sometimes the reboot is a long weekend, a cheap direct flight, and a destination that asks nothing of you except to show up and exhale.

Here are five quick summer escapes for the woman who needs a minute — and is smart enough to actually take it.

Savannah is driving distance from Atlanta and the drive through Georgia is beautiful in summer.

New Orleans, LA — She'll Feed Your Soul

New Orleans is not a city — it's an experience. The food alone is worth the trip: beignets at Café Du Monde, gumbo, crawfish étouffée, po'boys, and a frozen daiquiri from a drive-through window because Louisiana does not play. The music is everywhere. The culture is rich. It's one of the most genuinely alive cities in America.

The Bahamas is one of the most accessible Caribbean destinations from the US East Coast — you can be on a beach with crystal-clear water in under three hours from Florida. Nassau has personality: markets, conch salad stands, colonial architecture, and casinos if that's your lane.

Go for: Cable Beach for your beach day, the Atlantis water park if you want a splash, or a day trip out to the Exumas for the swimming pigs (yes, actual pigs that swim up to your boat). This is the getaway for the woman who needs sand and water and zero obligations on a Thursday afternoon.

Puerto Rico — American Passport, Full Caribbean Experience

Puerto Rico is, in many ways, the perfect US traveler's escape: no passport required, no currency exchange, year-round warm weather, and a destination that is genuinely stunning and culturally rich. Old San Juan is a UNESCO World Heritage Site — those blue cobblestone streets and colorful colonial buildings are not a filter. That's actually what it looks like.

Go for: Old San Juan (walk it, eat in it, photograph everything), El Yunque National Rainforest if you want to hike to a waterfall, Condado or Isla Verde beach for your beach day, and Rincon on the west coast if you want laid-back surf-town energy. The food is incredible — mofongo, tostones, fresh seafood — and the people are warm.
